Kia Ora means ‘be well / healthy’. This Maori phrase is used in New Zealand as a greeting. The soldiers were able to meet up and relax with soldiers from other units around the village. Amenities included newspapers from home, dominoes and billiards. The site is now occupied by the New Masonic Hall and the Silver Ferns housing development.
